Once launched, you will have a work area in front of you - this is where you add notes - operations that you can choose between five different methods. If you work with a MIDI instrument, you can add your notes via a dedicated MIDI keyboard in real time. Plus, you can use your PC keyboard to enter values, octaves, and more just as easily. If you already have a note that you are working on, then the application allows you to import it, as it is compatible with files exported from applications such as Sibelius and Finale. The other two options include posting notes to staff using the mouse or using MousePiano.
When you first launch the application, you will be prompted to select a sound configuration. If you are just getting started with this, then you can take the recommendation and choose Soundfront, as it is a surefire way to avoid depending on average MIDI sounds specific to sound cards or to avoid overpaying for sound libraries. Plus, thanks to the unique melody technology, you have complete control over the tonal palette of your composition. Simply put, you can experiment with numerous effects, from waltz and Viennese orchestra rhythms to trills and dynamic gradations during playback.
