After robbing a Mexican bank, Dad Longworth takes the loot and leaves his partner Rio to be captured but Rio escapes and searches for Dad in California.
Akcja filmu toczy się w Meksyku w roku 1880. Kiedy Johnny Rio i Dad Longworth napadają na bank, szybko rusza za nimi pościg. Udaje im się zbiec, ale w czasie ucieczki pada koń Johnny'ego. Dad zabiera skradzione złoto i odjeżdża. Obiecuje wrócić po kompana, jednak Johnny zostaje pojmany i trafia do więzienia. Poprzysięga zemstę dawnemu towarzyszowi i po wyjściu na wolność przyłącza się do dwóch bandytów planujących napad na bank w Monterrey, gdzie szeryfem jest Dad Longworth.
