Samenvatting
Zapa leidt een rustig bestaan totdat hij op een dag in de gevangenis dreigt te belanden en
noodgedwongen zijn geboorteplaats moet verlaten.
Wanneer hij terecht komt in de sloppenwijken van Buenos Aires zit er niets anders op dan
zich aan te sluiten bij de beruchte politiebrigade 'El Bonaerense'. In deze verdorven
wereld vol corruptie, onrechtvaardigheid en vriendjespolitiek, leert hij al gauw hoe hij
zijn voordeel uit het systeem kan halen.

Regisseur Pablo Trapero schetst met ?El Bonaerense? een grimmig en realistisch portret van
de corrupte politieactiviteiten in Buenos Aires.
De jonge Argentijn is maar liefst drie jaar bezig geweest om ?El Bonaerense? gefinancierd
te krijgen.
Toen hij in 2001 eindelijk genoeg geld bij elkaar had, werd de economische situatie in
Argentinië zeer slecht.
Voor het maken van de film heeft Trapero hulp gekregen van de politie in Buenos Aires,
maar niet alles in de film is waarheidsgetrouw.
Mendoza Enrique Orlando is Zapa?s echte naam.
De dertiger werkt jarenlang als slotenmaker bij Polaco en komt via zijn baas in het
criminele milieu terecht.
Nadat Zapa voor twee klanten een kluis heeft geopend, staat er een paar dagen later
politie voor zijn deur. Hij wordt weggevoerd naar Buenos Aires en wordt daar in voorlopige
hechtenis gehouden.
Al gauw loodst zijn oom hem binnen bij een afdeling van de plaatselijke politie, ?El
Bonaerense?.
Vanaf hier begint een leven vol corruptie, twijfel en vriendjespolitiek.
Zapa wordt door Jorge Román subliem neergezet.
Hij speelt een ietwat naïeve jongen, die donders goed beseft wat er zich om hem heen
afspeelt en daar op een gegeven moment een slaatje uit slaat.
Er is geen moment van twijfel aan Jorge Román?s acteerspel, hij speelt natuurlijk en zeer
aangrijpend.
Tijdens de trainingsperiode komt Zapa Mabel tegen.
Zij is docent op de politieacademie, de twee krijgen een kortstondige relatie.
Mimí Ardú zet Mabel, moeder van een tienjarig jongentje, realistisch en integer neer.
De actrice is vooral bekend geworden door haar rollen in Argentijnse televisieseries, maar
op het witte doek zet ze eveneens een topprestatie neer.
Ook Darío Levy, die de arrogante onsympathieke Gallo speelt, laat in ?El Bonaerense? een
prachtig staaltje acteerwerk zien.
Menig kijker zal van hem walgen na afloop van de film.
El Bonaerense? maakt sinds 2002 deel uit van de officiële selectie van het filmfestival
Cannes.
De film onderscheidt zich van de 'standaard' film, door fantastisch acteerwerk en een
simpel realistisch verhaal.
Pablo Trapero laat een grauw en angstaanjagend Buenos Aires zien.
Corruptie en onrechtvaardigheid is dan ook het decor van deze prachtige film.
