FAQ

What is a mute?

in Profile

When a user has broken the rules they are muted as a punishment.

When the mute function is activated, it automatically deactivates your account therefore you have no access to any features and can no longer comment on any part of the site. You can only send a message to a Moderator or higher.

The duration of Mute is defined by the moderator and will be lifted automatically when the mute time expires.

It depends on the severity of the offense, and the attitude of the user. Sometimes it's just to get someone's attention and to make them take a warning seriously. Other times it's to give a person some time to cool off, reflect, and study the rules. The time can be shortened or lengthened, depending on the response of the user.

Sorry, we won't discuss the exact details of how we do things. I hope you understand.

what is the usual time for a mute??

Probably my fav feature on KAT! Rules are meant to be followed and this is the best way to let someone know they did something offensive or wrong!

mute and block both same???
No, they are not.

Suppose I'll just have to wait then...Ho hum..Well, I can still DL and rate on the torrent...No more Lulz to be had and I will wait for the P.M from a MOD regarding the length of time due to my offence.

Best regards

Zapata.
I have been helping a good friend of mine and introduced him to KAT and just had him over to teach him more about the site and found out he has been muted can someone tell me why so I can correct the problem he is new to downloading but is a very good friend of mine that I would like to mentor and help his user name is (zombiemanwich) thank you in advanced for the help
Sorry, that sort of information is confidential. Your friend should have received a PM explaining the reason. If not, your friend should directly contact the person who gave the mute (that will be visible on the profile page).
thanks buddy I will help him to the best of my ability thank you!

A mute for any duration is not something you want for Xmas that's for sure! nosmirk

I believe they changed the ruling about muted users sending PM to mods - they can't do that now? so it's almost total account deactivation during the mute period? think

Or was I misinformed about this?

Unless it's changed in the last few days, I still get PMs from muted members.

Thanks 4 the info.thump_up
