Il ricercatore Frank Walton e la sua fidanzata Zoe, assieme agli scienziati Clay e Niko e alla giovane cameraman Eva, si riuniscono in segreto in un'università per effettuare degli esperimenti su delle carcasse di animali morti usando un siero sperimentale, "Lazarus", che potrebbe resuscitarli. Dopo vari tentativi riescono finalmente a riportare in vita un cane, che viene adottato da Frank e da Zoe col nome di Rocky: questo però comincia a far preoccupare i due poiché non ha mai appetito e la sua cataratta (di cui soffriva prima di morire) è scomparsa. Inoltre sembra possedere strani poteri e il siero, che dopo essere stato iniettato nel suo cervello avrebbe dovuto dissolversi, continua a dilagare nel suo corpo...........
THE LAZARUS EFFECT follows a group of researchers led by Frank and his fiancé Zoe who've achieved the unimaginable - bringing the dead back to life. After a successful, yet unsanctioned, trial on a newly deceased animal, the team is ready to unveil their breakthrough to the world. When the dean of their university learns of their underground experiments, their project is unexpectedly shut down and their materials confiscated.
